I turned 21 a couple of days ago and this is definitely the most different I’ve felt after a birthday. (I mean, I still don’t feel like an adult, but I definitely actually do feel older!) Birthdays always feel kind of like New Year’s to me and that means it’s the perfect time to set or recommit to goals.
New school years and new months are also perfect excuses to set some new goals! I wrote a post all about how to set and achieve awesome and reasonable goals that you can read here. If that’s not enough for you or if you already have awesome goals in place, I’ve also got a post all about how to follow up on your goals, which you can read here. And if you’re really dedicated to your goals, check out my Pinterest board and sign up below for my email list and take a look at the ebook I wrote all about goal setting.

Without further ado, here are my goals for this year of being 21. (Note: These are the “big ideas” I outline in my goal setting strategy. I’m breaking them down in greater depth in my catch-all notebook for myself!)
Blog
- Start working with brands on sponsored posts and other collabs.
- Grow my Instagram following to 1K.
- Grow my email list to 200.
- Start using Board Booster to grow blog traffic through Pinterest.
- Keep to consistent weekly posting schedule.
- Develop and follow a social media schedule.
Academics
- Make Dean’s List this semester (and keep up the good grades through the whole calendar year!)
- Stay on top of my readings and assignments.
- Don’t skip any class unless I’m sick.
- Get my undergraduate degree!
Teaching
- Substitute teach every chance I get.
- Shadow teachers in a variety of grade levels and schools.
- Make good grades and learn as much as possible in my education classes.
Health
- Stretch every day.
- Dance every week, even after my modern dance class ends.
- Eat something healthy (preferably vegetables) every day.
- Drink a bottle of water every day.
- Start meal prepping!
Relationships
- Spend more time with friends I feel fulfilled by and who are good for me. Spend less time with people who feel draining or who are bad influences.
- Be intentional about reaching out to and making time for friends I don’t run into often.
Personal
- Take some time for myself every week.
- Spend time journaling on a regular basis.
- Make time to read for fun.

Thank you Amanda, and thanks for reading 🙂
Those are some great goals, Emily! Boardbooster has really helped me in terms of increasing traffic on my blog and growing my Pinterest account. (Melyssa Griffin’s Pinfinite Growth course also helped me a ton!) I’ve been working on building my email list this past month and have already seen some pretty great results so I hope it stays this way! Best of luck with your goals!
Thanks so much Amelie, that’s all really encouraging!
